A $353,000 IRS Penalty. A Cover Up in Plain Sight? – Episode 61

Episode 61 is a follow up to the March 27, 2026, Management Letter from the city’s external auditor concerning their audit of the city’s financial statements for the fiscal year ended June 30, 2025.

Last week, I posted the Management Letter on Facebook and on my blog page.

In the podcast, I discuss what I call management failures concerning the $353,000 IRS penalty noted in the letter. A penalty of that nature, and in that amount, for a municipality, is not common.

Unfortunately, the public has not been informed what caused the error.

I identified 8 management failures. Add them up and it is what I call a “cover up in plain sight.”
